My Pit Viper fan stopped working

Anything I should try before ordering a new one? The fan spins when I turn it with my finger so it doesn't appear to be an obstruction but when I plug it in it has no signs of life.

I’d open the case and probe for loose connection with a multimeter. You can apply 9 volts to the plug with just a battery to test it. 0-12V should spin it up if it’s alive.

That was my first thought too.

That’s what happened to mine, one of the wires worked it’s way loose from the motor. Unfortunately they seal the connection point making it almost impossible to re-solder. The good news is the New replacement fan is a much better unit.

Unfortunately my buddy who I would usually turn to for electronics help is in Phuket right now.

Oh no! I'll keep watching this topic as it spins out to see what the problem turns out to be.

Wow. My fan is 13 or 14 years old. It has hung in there through several models of controllers. It's a 10 CFM Pit Viper.

My concern is where the wire come out of the fan. The gauge is so small I'm afraid that normal use will eventually break one of the wires at that point. I always try to be very careful with the wire.
