When powering the Pit Viper fan via a battery pack, does the battery pack actually plug into the Drive Cable or to the Fireboard unit itself? I already have the Fireboard, Drive Cable and Pit Viper fan and want to understand how to use a battery pack before buying one. From what I've seen the battery pack connects via micro-USB, so I'm thinking it connects directly to the Fireboard unit itself and not the Drive Cable. Is that correct??

I agree with Spinaker . It plugs via the usb cable. I rarely use it and unless you are planning on cooking somewhere without electricity, I would skip it. I plug mine into the wall almost 100% of the time. I would spend the money on competition probes or some other items you are wanting.
