Look what brown santa brought me (hint: rhymes with robot)
Yes!! Got my Smobot today! Already have it configured to connect to my wifi et.c. Setup was a breeze. Can't wait to fire up my BGE to see how well it performs. Thanks EdF for 'talking me into' getting one (like I was hard to convince )
I'm charging my usb powerpack as I type, so I can run it off of that instead of getting a power cord all the way out. Not an option for me.
You know, man once used fire without electricity, and gadgets, and batteries, and wifi, and bluetooth, and a smart phone app, and charts and graphs, and online forums for instant help ...
I saw these and was shut down immediately by the wife. "I allowed you to buy the Vision grill because it was set and forget it. Did you lie to me?" I couldn't argue because I knew her intent was to clear the porch.
Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Henrik and johnsteen ..After reading about the Smobot (and after a probe wire failure of my my DigiQ DX2) for my LBGE, I'm thinking of getting a Smobot. What do you think of it? What USB power source did you get and will it last for a 12 hr cook? Can I use an extension cord instead? Is it water resistant if it starts to rain? How long does it take to make temperature changes and do the temps vary very much? Thanks much!

OmegaDog12, I'm gonna have to get back to you, I've only had it for < 24 hours
Either way, I use a usb power bank (15 000 mAh, or 57Wh) to run it. Of course an extension cord works even better, since it doesn't need recharging :-)
Don't know about water resistance, but it doesn't look very resistant. Temp changes are instant, if you mean the temp it should hold.
I'll give it a test run, then I'll get back with more details.
It appears to use a RC (remote control) servo motor. Don't know about the connections but you should be able to measure the physical size of the servo motor and get an upgraded replacement. If the servo is not waterproof you should be able to find a waterproof version used in RC boats.
