    Fireboard Fan Drive Programming

I'm in the "training" phase (learning how much I like this system) and after yesterdays practice session with some chicken thighs, I noticed that I could only control the fan speed via my smart phone under "Fireboard Drive". I have Dashboard set up and running today for a Pork Butt run and noticed that on my Desktop and Laptop Dashboards (same as yesterday for the thighs), there is no provision to manually control Fan Speed. Am I missing something in those two Dashboards? If not, is there some thought to adding the Fireboard Drive "control" commands to the non cell phone dashboards in the future. Currently, you're forced to use a cell phone to control the fan, which may be a limiting factor for others. Me, not a problem, just something that piques my interest. And yes, discovered the set point for controlling the fan.

Pouring down rain, snow in the county, next door neighbor has put in a request for some pulled pork....Can it get any better?

They are working on it as I understand, unless there is a link I am missing. There was a beta version website that worked for a bit but it stopped working for me. It was nice. I am sure soon this will be integrated into the full featured browser version. I lost the link to the beta version. Someone here has it.

I use a CyberQ and there is no provision to manually control fan speed because the fan is either on or off. It can run from < 20% up to 100% of the time. The software controls the time that it runs.

Ah, found the link to the beta site for the fan control for those who want to use the browser UI on their computer to set the drive speed. The FireBoard fan speed is totally adjustable via the app, but has not reached the browser yet for those of us that like to sit at a computer all day and not use apps. LOL.

This site was working, but has not worked for me lately. I emailed FireBoard again just now to see when this will be incorporated into the browser function.

FireBoard is a Cloud Connected Smart Thermometer, allowing remote monitoring of temperature from your mobile phone or web browser, anywhere you have internet access.

Doesn't work for me either. Ah well, I'm sure if we keep the squeaky wheel turning they'll come up with a workable version. If they need some beta testers, I'd be more than glad to volunteer. Would give them a broader data base for glitch discovery.

Why do you need to control the fan? On my FlameBoss, the controller varies the speed of the fan from 0 to 100% (not percentage of time on) to achieve the temperature that you've set for the pit. Since it usually varies only about 1 degree from my setting, I don't see any need to manually control it. It seems to manage it just fine itself. You can see the percentage on the controller and on the graph, but you can hear that the fan speed varies. Is that not how the Fireboard fan works?

          Best regards,
          Jim

That is how the FireBoard works. You can set the set point to the temp you want and the FireBoard will take over the fan speed infantly from 1% to 100%, or you can set the fan alone from the same percentage. But you can only set the fan using the app alone. Not a desktop.

What he is asking is when can you monitor, control these fan settings from a computer, laptop or such and not just be locked to the app on the iPhone. I want these same features on my iMac as I am a lazy cook, always sitting at my desktop and monitor my cook from my screen. As of now, you can monitor from your desktop screen, but not actually set, or change your set point, or fan speed if you choose to from an actual computer.

OK, I understand. The FB200 will let me set it either from the app on the phone or through the web page. Either method and I can change all of the variables. The web page preceded the app by almost 2 years.

              Best regards,
              Jim
