so i recently just added the auber 10cfm fan to my WSM 22. I'm doing a couple of test runs and it seems to kick up quite a bit of ash. I did the Soo donut set up and ran it at 325 with the water pan empty foiled over top vent wide open. It held the temp very well with little fluctuation but i had a layer of ash on my grates and smoker. Anybody else run into this problem or have any suggestions?

WSM-18"
Weber Kettle-22"
DCS-36 (Gasser)
Brinkman smoker, circa 1989...R.I.P.

Not sure about the WSM, but my Auber instructions mention having the top vent open only about 1/16". I haven't used mine on my WSM yet, only my BGE. No ash issues so far.

borne44, I would think that the 10CFM fan would be to big for your WSM, The 6CFM would most likely be more than enough on a 22" WSM. I use the 10CFM on my large offset I also made a small baffle to direct most of the air down below the charcoal as it was blowing the ash around sense the fan is close to the charcoal basket. Hope this will help as the Auber works Great.
