    Anyone ever get a mentally ill Fireboard

    If I could, I'd rip this thing off the smoker, burn it, and cook the brisket in the oven.

    1. This thing set for 225, NOT cold smoke, will not get above 150 on every cook on start-up. I have to wait for the igniter to go out and manually restart the igniter.

    2. I have lid detection on, it shows it on the app, if I open the lid to load the meat somewhere above 225, check out what this thing goes up to in retaliation. It topped out at almost 325.

    Awesomely built smoker, absolute piss poor controller thus far.

      It isn't ruining cooks so I can still use it. I emailed fireboard, they can check things out better with my controller.

    Obviously they need to replace that one asap. Maybe a loose wire from the thermocouple or somewhere else from shipping. Sometimes freight can have a real bad ride.

      I was thinking software because it eventually settles down to the set temp +/- a few degrees.

    Have you tried increasing your lid detection time? It seems like it is reacting too soon to the lid being open and running wide open to make up for the temperature drop. Given that it does settle down and hold a steady temp, I think I'd start there.

      It didn't over-shoot later during the cook. It's just on the start-up the controller acts drunk, intoxicated, something.

    How old are the probes?

    I seem to recall my Fireboard freaking out like that a while back - just getting really crazy temporary temp readings. I scrubbed the probes (hot water and soap) and eventually just replaced them. Hasn't happened since. Just a thought!

      Brand new. They work very accurately once it gets to cooking temp.
