Fireboard backfired!

On Friday morning I put a butt in the kettle around 7:30. My Fireboard got the call to control the temp as usual on a longer cook. I got everything going and the Fireboard seemed to running normally. However, the fan never cut off and the temp jumped to over 350°. I unplugged the fan, put the lid back on and let the temp drop. I tried using the fan again and it would not cut off and running at 100%. I messed around with the settings and emailed Fireboard, (not really expecting a response on the holiday), just to get in line for Monday. But I received a response later in the day and tried using the fan again. It still wanted to run at 100%.

It wasn't really a big problem - it just took me a while to get the temp dialed in manually. The butt turned out great and I will post it in the SUWYAC thread later.

Did you happen to have the wires in the wrong ports? Power and Fan. I did that once. 🤦🏼

Steve B - not this time. I did once shortly after I bought the Fireboard, so I marked where the ambient probe goes.

Any chance you inadvertently changed which channel is the control channel. I did that once and the poor fan was controlled by my meat temperature instead of ambient. Took me awhile to figure that out, once I corrected all was back to normal.

I had not considered that I accidently switched the channel. Hmmm

RonB from the picture it looks like your control channel is probe #1 at 178 degrees, while channel #3 is at 309 which is similar to what I had an issue with when I changed the control channel probe to the correct probe # my issue was resolved. Fortunately it is a mistake I only made once I always check now. Not even sure how I switched the control channel in the first place.
