I thought i would post this here. I've never tried it or even seen one, just turned up on a Google search after reading about the Beefer & Otto Wilde. A much better price point, $500. Plus $100 off for Mothers Day if using the discount code.
InfernoGo at $379. Some of you may want to take the leap.
I bought one a few months ago. Paid about $375. "Cool" little device. Mine had one small defect - a wire for the battery powered spark igniter was not plugged in so no spark. Was easy enough to fix.
It does get hot and there is a definite sweetspot for the heat so depending on what you are cooking you may have to shift or rotate the item once.
While it is easy to remove the "guts" of the Inferno for cleaning I find that the whole rack assembly is a little too easy to slide out. When you are just trying to remove the grate your steak is on the whole assembly is prone to coming out so you have to be careful when sliding out the grate and be ready stop the whole rack system from also sliding. No big deal, just something to be aware of.
I've been interested in buying an Otto Wilde since they first came out but wasn't sure it was worth the price (3 times the price of the Northfire) which is why I bought the Inferno just to see if I would like/use a gas fueled salamander. I'm still not convinced but I would (at least occasionally) like the ability of the larger Otto Wilde to deal with larger or multiple smaller items simultaneously. However, 95% of the time it's just me and my wife and the Inferno is large enough for the things we usually eat.
The Inferno is not a device I use all that often but I'm glad I bought one. Not sure I would have bought one at the original $500 sticker but at $375 I think it is a good deal.
