That rig is for people with money to burn... or sear. I think I'll be sticking with my cheap-o rusted out chimney for now.

Seen those! Expensive is right! Eye popping price! I like my charcoal chimney sear so far the best! Not sure I’d spend that much dough on this!

Home Salamander. A long time ago, even before I was familiar with sous vide, I designed a dream kitchen that had a salamander for doing steaks and such.

Yeah, things did not work out such that I could install such a dream kitchen.

Maybe I can do the hacked version... a nice toaster oven with a broiling unit:

For you charcoal guys, Alton Brown has you covered:

TBH: I dunno that I want anything at 1500* on my countertop.

Just sayin dept. I think you have to be out of your mind or have to much money & ya don’t know what to do with it, to buy that. It sorta defies common sense.

I’m Kinda disappointed in Pat LaFrieda for putting something like this out there.
His family has been running a really good business just providing some of the best meats around.
Don’t think he needs to get involved with this sort of stuff.
                Just my thoughts.

ID:	531922 A couple of charcoal chimneys and/or one of them being an insanity chimney with fan will get you plenty hot enough all together under $100.00.

                    Similar to the BASS-O-MATIC!

I've thought about rigging something like that using a replacement sear burner from Weber, but just as a stand alone side burner-like setup for outdoor use. Whose gonna use that indoors?! You'll have the fire department there in minutes. And $1200? Crazy. Stick to tamahawk ribeyes, Pat!

This would be cool to have, if you didn't have to pay for it.

Again, the Bass-o-matic comes to mind here.
