Thanks Will! Just ordered some 8” ones to go in the 6 qt. Cosori I just bought.

I'll second the Cosori brand. We got a Breville Smartoven because its easier for most things and we needed a toasted oven, but the Cosori is a better pure air fryer (if you can live with it beeping everytime you press a button.

    To answer your questions

    1. If we are talking frozen fries, I just throw them in and maybe do a quick spritz of vegetable/avocado oil. I don't think they really need it though honestly. Makes great tater tots too. And yes way better in air fryer vs oven, IMO.

    2. I like to air dry a bit in the fridge, toss with whatever dry seasoning I use, maybe a light spray of oil but again, they have plenty of fat on their own. Fry at 400 until they look good (don't be afraid to take them up to like 190-200).

    3. Never used them but I have seen it. Never had issues handwashing or throwing the parts in the dishwasher on occassion (for the Cosori).

    4. They come out great, if you are talking about the McDonald's style square ones. Just throw them in and run it hot. They don't need oil (same as tater tots).

    5. Wings, salmon (Malcom Reed has a good recipe), fries for steak frites. If I can't get out to the grill, I like boneless skinless thighs.

As for Bake and Roast - I never know what roast means compared to bake. My SmartOven has like 20 different settings that all seem like variations on bake lol.

We have a small one and only cook a few things in it since it is only Irene and me. We cook frozen French fries as is. We find it handy for shrimp. We season them and spray with oil. We cut fish up into short strips, cover in mustard, dredge in fish fry, and spray with oil. We use the shrimp and fish on tocos. The air fryer beats other methods when it comes to time and clean up.

John you’ll love one. Once you understand all it can do you’ll use it often. At first all I could figure out was that I could grab a burger and fries at Whataburger on the way home. I could put the fries in the air fryer when I walked in the door and in a minute they were as good as they were when they were handed to me. To go egg rolls are reborn when air fried. Frozen battered fish cooks up great in one. My wife makes toast in it. I can put frozen biscuits and frozen sausage patties in it and have breakfast pretty quickly. We get fried raviolis and heat them in the air fryer, they’re good. For a guy cooking for one it’s a natural. It’s no longer a hassle to just cook just enough for a meal with no leftovers. My only tips are get a large basket and get the easiest one to clean.

Thanks Lynn! Yeah, based on comments here and from online reviewers, lots of people wind up using it more than they thought they would. I made some Costco frozen fish and some breaded shrimp last night, it took about 15-17 minutes for my oven to pre-heat to 425*. Normal for my oven but still. Which air fryer do you have?

Reheating leftovers - or freshening up fast food that cooled on the drive home - is one of the most underrated uses for an air fryer. And it really excels at it!

We have the Pampered Chef version, and it has similar dimensions to the pic you showed, except instead of a single, deep basket like that and many others have, ours has wire mesh shelves that slide into several slots, similar to a toaster oven. We prefer this setup to the single basket. Something to think about in case it hasn't been mentioned above. We love the thing, gets used daily.

With the various shelves, are you able to easily cook multiple items at the same time, Huskee?

Draznnl Yep, that's why we love it. My boys use it for wings and chicken fingers a lot. Wife uses it for chicken thighs.

I find the window and light to be handy to see the right time to flip or shuffle the food. I use Easy Off Degreaser (not oven cleaner) dapped on paper towel to keep it clean.

Wow, lots of great answers and tips so far, appreciate it! Y’all have definitely given me some things to think about and have helped me almost reach a decision. If I’m gonna get one I wanna do it right and not regret my choice later. The 2.6 qt. Cuisinart I thought I wanted is no longer in the mix….too small! I found out the cooking plate area is only 6.25” X 6.25”. I’ve got some Costco frozen and crusted tilapia fish and they wouldn’t fit in it, they’re about 8” long, so they wouldn’t lay flat. I also found out I can get a much larger one without giving up much more cabinet space than the 2.6 qt. Cuisinart. I can get a 6 qt. Cosori which would be only 1.4” deeper and 2.5” wider than the Cuisinart. If I decide to cook more than one serving of something I don’t wanna feel like I’d be short of adequate cooking space.

I’m probably overthinking this 🙄 but I’ve also decided I don’t wanna keep it stored in a lower cabinet and then take it out-put it back every time I wanna use it. I’ve moved my coffee maker to the other side of the stove and now will have a small 24” x 25” countertop for the air fryer to nest on. The last thing, which is important to me, is all my appliances/coffee maker etc. is black and stainless, so I want something that’ll fit in with the look…..which brings me to this……

It’s not my final choice yet, but it could definitely work for me. Lots of people here seem to really like the Cosori.

Speaking from experience, the more easily accessible it is, the more it will get used.
We have limited counter space. We kept ours on a pantry shelf in the basement. It went largely untouched. Once we created shelf space in the kitchen to store it, usage has gone way up. probably would go up even more if we had a dedicated counter space for it..

I was thinking the same thing…..would get used more if on the counter. I just read from a reviewer who did a baked potato in hers in 40 minutes! After at least 15 minutes for my oven to pre-heat and then 1 hour to cook at 425*, I can have a baked tater done waay quicker and not heat up the kitchen! 🙌

We have a Gourmia single basket at work and a Ninja unit with 2 separate baskets at home. While I really like the Gourmia, it tends to blow stuff around in it like toast, tortilla chips, shredded cheese etc. The fan is pretty strong. It also preheats letting you know when it's ready to add food. The Ninja is nice because you can cook 2 different items at different times and temps, letting the meal come together all at once. It does not blow stuff around either. The baskets are smaller but you can run them at the same time and temps for larger volumes of food. Temp on the Gourmia goes all the way down to 170 in case you want to hold something to keep it warm while the Ninja doesn't go nearly that low. It's good for reverse searing too. Going at a lower temperature also enables you to make hard "boiled" eggs in it without the risk of them exploding. The Ninja doesn't have a preheat mode as they say just add the food and start it. I've found that I get better results on both units preheating them. Foods I like to do at home are tater tots, green beans, asparagus and twice baked potatoes. With the veggies, I just put them in a SS bowl, spray lightly with avocado oil, toss then add to the air fryer. I'll shake the basket once or twice through the cook. Doesn't take long at all.

Panhead John if you are going to try tater tots in the air fryer be sure to brush on a light coating of melted tallow before you put them in the basket. Talk about next level tots!

Panhead John Sounds like a good time to buy a jar of tallow. LOL Short of that, you could try a bit of spray oil or even a light brushing of lard might work. You could even just cook them as they come out of the package but there is something a notch above when adding a bit more oil/grease.

Carolyn This woman is my go-to for air fryer advice (along with 810k others), and her advice has been absolute gold. I even bought her air fryer cookbook. I didn’t watch this whole video, but for chocolate chip cookies she recommends 300° for 6-8 minutes. BTW, add me to the list of happy Cosori owners.

It may be a little too large for your purposes, but I have an old Power XL air fryer with the 3 racks like Huskee - great minds think alike. Even in isolation. I don’t think they make that model anymore, but when it dies I’ll try to find a similar model. I use it for wings and pork chops regularly. I’ve done frozen breaded shrimp, fries, lightly breaded mushrooms, pretty much anything that is lightly breaded and can be fried. I like the racks because I am not piling stuff on top of each other, and it is easy to flip stuff. Probably not so much an advantage with frozen fries, but better with wings IMO.

My wing method is 12 minutes at 365, flip, another 12 at 365. If I sauce them, toss and back in for 4-5 minutes at 400. I season them with whatever rub catches my fancy that day. Works every time.

We have the 6 qt Beautiful brand from Walmart. It works great, is easy to clean, and is only $69.00 on the local Walmart page. We had a Ninja which worked great but in a moment of weakness the wife gave it to her sister.

Damn, I just spent more time researching a stupid air fryer than my last car purchase…..😂 Watched a few YouTube reviews and read way too many reviews. It came down to the Cuisinart 4.5 qt air fryer or the Cosori 9 in 1 TurboBlaze 6 qt. model. Either one was big enough for me but I’m going with the Cosori. There was a couple of minor features on the Cuisinart I liked which the Cosori doesn’t have….the glass window and light to see inside and the Toss Food reminder which alerts you halfway through the cook to rotate your food. Not a big deal though. Even though the Cuisinart had good reviews, I found out the inside walls are plastic and not metal. I’m sure it’s probably fine but that just worries me a little. Most air fryers go to 400*, including the Cuisinart, but the Corosi goes to 450*. Nice to have in case I ever need that high of a heat. I also prefer the ceramic coating of the basket and crisp plate in the Corosi, the Cuisinart is just a non-stick coating. While they both shared several features, I also liked the pre-heat option the Cosori offers, Cuisinart no. Several of you who have a Cosori and recommended it was also a big factor, thanks! Here’s the one I ordered……..It’ll be here in the morning 7-11 am..

              Thanks Sid! Here’s what I found…..
Based on user reports and documentation for the Cosori TurboBlaze 6.0-Quart Air Fryer this specific model does not include an automatic shake/toss reminder function. The manufacturer removed this feature in the TurboBlaze design because the DC motor enables faster, more even cooking that often does not require shaking.

We've got college kids that like to throw and go, the air fryer is perfect for this. Down side is, I go to use it for something like frozen battered fish, and it's a mess. To the sink, and the Dawn Power wash! Typically used for tater-tots, French fries (they never use oil), or reheating some foods. It's a bit noisy, since our kitchen is open to the family room, that means the TV gets cranked up. It's time saver, even though we have a gas convection oven, the air fryer is faster.

bbqLuv is correct, research some recipes. It's great for side dishes to that low and slow smoke main dish.

In my opinion liners on the bottom of the air fryer are a no go. My air fryer has a grate that the food sits on that allows air through it. Allowing the air though the bottom helps crisp up the food from below. Any liner in my opinion would block the air flow.

Thanks guys! That makes total sense to me, didn’t think about that. I just cancelled my order with Amazon for the pack of liners. A lot of the reviewers did say cleanup was a breeze on the one I ordered. The basket and grate is ceramic coated, so yeah, cleanup should be easy.

I agree with this as well - a liner would block air circulation.

I've used it with, and without, the liners. Have not noticed a difference in the outcome of the cook either way.

Here is how I cook a pound of wings in my air fryer.

First off, I get jumbo wings from the place I buy my poultry. There usually only 8 wings per pound.

I’ll first dry them off pretty well.

Next I’ll air fry them for 20 minutes at 325°. I’ll flip them over half way through. This cooks the wing 90% of the way. It renders out all of the extra fat and they don’t turn out greasy.

I’ll then empty out any excessive grease so it won’t smoke up the house in the next step.

Lastly I’ll cook 5 minutes at 450°. This will crisp up the skin and finish cooking the wing.

Season straight out of the air fryer or toss in your favorite sauce.
