Out and about a bit today. Groceries, Wall St Journal (the weekend edition has all the news I can stand), thrift store. A Burton ProChef 1800. New, close to $300. I need this like a hole in the head. But I will get far more entertainment from it than $13 normally buys. Actually, closer to 15 with tax. In a fit of generosity I allowed it to be rounded up.

Oak Smoke. Several years ago (5?) I went to an estate sale on a motorcycle. There was a treasure trove of cast iron there. As I recall, bought 2 skillets, a dutch oven, and s chicken fryer, all inexpensive. Spent more time figuring out how to strap it on the bike than at the sale. Clattered all the way home, fortunately not far. I was seeing headlines all the way home: Idiot killed by flying skillet while on motorcycle.
