Hey, guys, I’m kind of freaking out. I was grinding up some brisket trim with my meat grinder and noticed a grey ish paste coming off the grinder plate. I assume it’s metal, but why is this happening? I have a feeling it’s user error. Please let me know if you’ve experienced this before. Thanks!

Have you changed any parts in the auger system, like a thrust washer to reduce endplay? I changed one once and the machine bogged down a little so I knew it was too tight. Pay close attention to the back wall where the auger inserts in to the drive and also check for excessive wear between the knife and grinding plate.
If everything checks out you might try a thorough cleaning then run some bread through and see if it happens again at that point. (my .02)

Unless you are running it at 1200 F, 2500 F.....which are the melting points of aluminum and stainless steel, respectively.
