I have the plus because I always try to recycle unburned coals and it makes it so much easier to just lift it out and dump the coals out. By the way I have never had a problem with it clogging with coal dust.

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Troutman, if you read the info in the other threads, it seems to be the consensus (I asked and was told in another thread I cannot locate) that you should:
1. Put the hole for the fan adapter on the side of the kettle opposite the SNS, below the level of the charcoal grate.
2. A Drip 'N Griddle in place helps push the air flow of the fan towards the bottom of the SNS.
3. You will want the weber kettle adapter available at bbqguru.com, regardless of which fan you end up choosing. It does require drilling a hole in the kettle, but the adapter comes with a silicon plug to cover it when not using the fan.
Even though I have a Smoke, I am tempted to get a Fireboard if and when I decide to get a controller, but would likely use one of the Pit Viper fans from bbqguru.com.

Thanks again, I missed that in the threads. I have that adapter on my WSM, its the same one. It pushes air down along the bottom of the kettle so I figured it had to be either across or to the side of the SNS. Thanks for the conformation. I'm getting out my step drill bit right now !!! The Fireboard and Pit Viper combo are unbelievably rock steady, you'd love it !!
