Difference between Smoke N Sear Plus and the Smoke N Sear?

just purchase a 22 Kettle Premium and am planing on buying one of the Smoke n Sear models. I tried searching for the answer to these questions, but did not find them. Probably my lack of searching skills. I will appreciate any input and advice as to which one of the two versions I should buy. These are my questions: What is the difference between the two Smoke N Sear models? Do the Plus features make it perform better? Is it worth the extra money? If so, why is worth the extra cost? Is there any other matters I should consider? Thanks

    According to the website:
    • The added base plate keeps small pieces of fuel (lump charcoal or small burning coals) securely in the charcoal basket, allows for the Slow ‘N Sear Plus to be moved around the grill with coals, and makes cleaning up unused charcoal a breeze.
    • The addition of the base plate also includes a small extension beyond the water reservoir for extra stability.
I'm looking to buy one too and plan to buy the plus. You probably should too.

I happen to prefer the regular Slow 'N Sear. But I never move mine. I find it far easier to clear the ash out in the regular.

Second this. I have the plus and I make a mess every time I need to clean it because all the ash starts falling out of the bottom as I lift it. I am yet to find a way to get the ash out of the plus without covering everything in the vicinity with ash. That said, great product.

My dad cooks almost exclusively on a webber kettle. He likes both the smokenator an the slow n sear. I have messed with both and the slow n sear seems to be thebetter product. he has the original, and I have no complaints.

I bought the plus, but like Huskee, I never move mine and probably could have been fine with the original.

For some reason I am able to like your comment but nobody else's. Started today with just the Moderators and now has moved on. I am proud to still be able to like your comments, Mr. Bones.

I've bought the original before the Plus was created and at first thought it was better. However, now that I've used it for awhile I'm glad I have the original. As mentioned above, it's very easy to clear ash and I think airflow might be better. i did move it around a few place while learning, but now it's found a permanent home in my Performer and don't move it.

Thanks everyone. You have been most helpful. I believe the original will be the best choice for me. For me, the main advantage I see for the plus is the ease of recovering un-burnt briquettes, and since I do this by hand already with my WSM, the advantage is not significant.

The advantage the plus has is it is more stable. If you fill the water bin on the original with no coals in the hopper it can and will dump your water into the belly of your kettle.

I like the stability of the SNS Plus personally, same with my SNS LP. Both have served very well!
