Last night a did test run with the sns to burn off any oils or residues. After I was done and went to dump ash pan, it was all wet. Thought maybe it was leaking, so waited till this morning and filled it with water. No fire just a leak test. No signs of leaking so thought all was well. I am now in to a rib cook and I peaked into the ash pan and it had a lot of water in it. I dumped it and it measured 8 oz.. The cook has been cruising along in the 230 range and it has never got above 240. Outside temps are in mid 50's so thought maybe it could be just condensation, but that seems like it is a lot of water for that. Plus the water level was way down. Possible that it only leaks when it is hot???? Anybody else had the same problem???? Thx

Weber Performer
Weber Rotisserie for kettle
Weber Summit
My old worn out Gasser for burgers
I would guess that yes, there is some normal flex when it gets hot that then opens a leak-weld porous point, I would contact ABC and see what they say.

Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.

I've experienced the same thing on my first 1-2 tries with it. And even did the cold leak test as you did but it didn't leak a thing. Since then I haven't seen any water underneath, although it's only been a few times, and I did some ribs for a few hours and the water lasted. Since it didn't leak when cold I just chalked it up to boil over when full or near full.

You guys may not believe this, but we've never had an SnS returned to us that was leaking. We have a 0% defect rate.
We test each one before it leaves the factory.
It's possible the water boiled over (reservoir overfilled) or Larry missed the reservoir when he was pouring the water in.
If there is a problem with the SnS though it will be fully covered by our warranty.
LarryO47 47 when you have a chance please check again and get back to us.

As David Parrish said, I've slopped a bit while pouring in the hot water. Something else to check is how level the SnS is. Between how the kettle is parked and how the SnS is sitting on the grate, I've had one end a good 1/4 inch lower than the other.

#1 I didn't overfill it. Used a quart measuring cup.
#2 Did get a little spatter when adding water but surely wasn't 8 Oz.
#3 I had it perfectly level. Used a level to level it up.
#4 All the water went into the reservoir. None poured outside.
David Parrish I will take MillerTime advice (see above) and will do a couple burns with it and see what happens.

I don't have a SnS, and cook on a Hasty Bake, so I may be totally out of line here. Please forgive, if so.
I will say that adding water to a pan directly above coals in the Hasty Bake results in a VERY humid environment. The design is much different than a Kettle, so any water ends up running out and down a leg /and/ or condensing under the table by the exhaust vent.
There is so much that it typically runs down the sidewalk a ways. Even in warm weather, but more when it is cool/cold.
Just throwing that out, that maybe it is evaporating, and condensing, then collecting in the kettle... as you mentioned in the original post.
Again, please forgive if I am not following the problem correctly, or am out of line due to not being familiar with the specific equipment in question.
