Reservoir of DOOM

Smoking a pork loin on my Weber kettle today with the Slow n Sear in place and in full operation. I've noticed how "nasty" the reservoir has gotten.

Does anyone clean this or do you just "let it ride" as is?

I rinse it out when debris gets in it because adding water to it causes sputtering and I don't want that stuff going everywhere.

I use a screwdriver or spatula on occasion. Hold it upside down and dig out the debris..

I keep a small flexible blade putty knife nearby for this and to scrape the inside of my Kettles.
