Hmmm... it seems to me that Pit members ought to have/create a must have accessories list for each cooker listed on AR.

We're all a little different but we learn from each other.

What we've learned from the MCS concept is that buying a new cooker is just the root of the long term investment of that cooker.

Let's take Someone that wants to learn to grill some steaks. They stumble onto AmazingRibs.com. and Meathead tells them they must buy a Thermapen. Then Pitt Boss tells them they must buy a Slow n Sear. Then someone like me says you really need a BBQ Dragon. Then GrillGrate Brad tells them they need GrillGrates. Then there's the Hover Grill guy for wings and more racks of ribs. Then the thought of smoking food and temperature regulators come into the picture. Don't forget pizza's and Chinese food, wok's, pizza stones and their accessories. The list goes on and on.

Pretty soon your $99 investment is over a $1000!!!

    Why???

Because you stumbled onto AR... paid the price, $24, to get in the Pit and saw the beautiful pictures of unbelievable food, prepared on inexpensive cookers, followed by stories of how extraordinarily tasty they were, with a list of the accessories required to duplicate that cook.😎

Meathead created the discussion with a recipe about how to BBQ kick ass ribs... then the entrepreneur's approached the site with ideas hoping to build their businesses off of his great recipe and writing ability to get people interested.

At the the end of the day... Meathead came up with a great idea.🤙

FoodSaver V3230 (refurb) is on sale today only at www.meh.com. Add $5 shipping and you get your foodsaver with $60 left over for other toys.... which I would personally put towards the Drip 'n Griddle. I love that thing!

If you are concerned about the refurb, I bought this same deal back in December when they had it and it has worked great for me so far.

The two would make a great combo.

Just buy a lottery ticket and if you win then you can buy whatever you like and if you losed you won't have the headache on trying to figure out what to buy with it.

Grill Grates for the SnS and the BBQ Dragon, so you can get a really good sear on those steaks and burgers. Your PBC has a hard time with that.

The BBQ Dragon is great because by the time you reverse sear on your kettle, keeping temps below 250°F, and are ready for a real hot sear, that BBQ Dragon will get those coals hot in a flash. Pun intended.

I agree... the BBQ Dragon is a really handy time saver. To move from 225/250° to Warp 10 searing heat in less than 2 minutes is so cool.🤙

I find the Vortex Allows for the Same affect without the Additional Expense of the BBQ Dragon? But then again I am Basically a Meat and Spud Kind of Guy! I don't envision Creme Broule being in My Repertoire any Time Soon?

Dan the Man... if you have and SV circulator crime brûlée is easy peasy.

The vortex and the BBQ Dragon are completely different accessories used for much different functions.

I found a slightly used IR thermometer on Amazon for $13 with similar characteristics to the Thermoworks one, so I just pulled the trigger on that. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the GGs for the SnS, but I'll run it by my wife first and see if she'd rather go for the vacuum sealer - that deal MillerTime mentioned looks really nice. I'll keep the Dragon in mind, but we don't do a whole lot of thick meats so reverse sear isn't my first priority.

I may also see if I can spend a little of my monthly "allowance" and get the DnG as well, I like the idea of having a solid griddle surface.

And Breadhead, don't get me started about the true cost of membership here. I'm hoping for a KBQ in the next year or two.

Hmmm... you've got MCS my friend. You probably never heard of the KGB until you became a Pit member. You need to just add a line item to your family budget for MCS acquisitions.😎

Breadhead isn't KGB the Russian secret service? Haha.

              I know it's a typo.

But if you want to sneak it in past your wife, then KGB fits nicely...

              Darned autocorrect anyhow.

Well I forgot that the deal on the vacuum sealer was only for yesterday, so when I went to show it to my wife it was already gone. I'll do some more research on sealers and watch for the deal to come around again.

So with that gone, my decision was easier. I just pulled the trigger on both the custom fit GrillGrates and the Drip n Griddle pan, so I will have multiple options for Griddle cooking and searing. I love griddle food, and I'll have to get some tips from troymeister for the best uses for the DnG. I'm pretty excited, although now my kettle accessories add up to more than 5x the cost of the grill itself (Craigslist)

And Danjohnston949 I agree with you - happy wife happy life. When I asked her about using some of my personal money for the cost overrun, she said it's my money so she was fine with it
