    SnS - Peach Pie

Last Sunday we were in the mood for a peach pie so I baked up this one on the 22.5" crimson kettle with SnS:

I tell you what, I just love the Village Pie Maker. For a store bought pie, this is the closest thing I will get to my wife's homemade pies. Plus, there is just something different about the crust when it comes off of the grill...it just seems flakier. I don't know. In any event, if you haven't tried baking a pie on the grill please give it a go. You will not be disappointed.

David Parrish thank you for the Kingsford Professional suggestion a couple of months back. I picked up a bag at Home Depot and used it for this cook. I am amazed at how clean it burns, not to mention the residual ash collection is considerable smaller. Going forward I will be fazing out the old KBB in favor of the Professional.

Right?! I can't believe we were out of ice cream and I sure as hell wasn't going to use Cool Whip.

You bet Craigar! Kingsford professional works great in the kettle/SnS, or any other setup that has very good airflow control. I also like to use professional in my BGE. I'll take a little extra ash over rocks, plastic, and metal leftovers from someone's construction site any day. Lump sucks!

How does KP compare to Kingsford Competition?

Beautiful pie, Craigar! I agree, pie cooked on the grill or a hot smoker equals exquisite crust.

Took a first in dessert with this pie cooked fresh on the Jambo. It was an American Bass Anglers contest with Early Times whiskey as the name sponsor. ABA put the photo above on their magazine cover!

Actually used Jack Daniel's in the filling, but Early Times is in the Brown-Forman family. Ice cream is Blue Bell's homemade vanilla. Caramel sauce had a bit of whiskey added.

Where's the Cheese (said the cheesehead)? An apple pie without the cheese is like a kiss without the squeeze!

I can honestly say I have yet to try cheese on my apple pie. Which flavor do you suggest?

Craigar , There are a few different types that some people recommend, but it's alwasy better with cheddar!
