    Grill Grate Questions .

I am thinking of purchasing Grill Grates. Are they really worth it? What do they really do? For those who have them, how much has it improved your cooks? Do I need the one sized for the SnS or the larger one sold on Grill Grates website? I know this is a symptom of MCS But these Grill grates really have gotten my curiosity. Any info is welcome.

I bought them for my Santa Maria grill. I love them. You cannot get a prettier grill mark on a steak. For me - they do a nice job of preventing flare-ups. I like to get the grill down towards the wood/coals for optimal heat. With my old grates this could create a huge fire at times. I was looking to get Argentine grates for the unit when I thought that the grill grates would, essentially, do the same thing. I have also begun turning them upside down to act as a griddle for fajitas.

It's a no-brainer once you use them. As mentioned above, very, very effective at preventing flare ups while still being to cook really hot. They rock on small pits like the smokey joe.

I use them on my gasser, KEG and SNS. They work great. And the spatula they give you with your order is amazing for flipping anything. I love that you can flip them over and you have a griddle. I get great seared steaks on griddle side. They really do stop flare ups as well. I would say that I really like them.

Spinaker Is the size for the SnS sufficient or is the bigger size worth it?

Not Sure. I just use a standard piece for my SNS. And it works great. But I would imagine, that the custom fit one would be handy but I don't know how much more handy. troymeister

I use them on my Weber gasser for anything from burgers to bacon to seared steaks, also does a great job on the flat side doing crispy skin chicken wings (wife's favorite)

Not sure what kind of grill you'll be using, but on my Big Green Egg I add 150 degrees to what ever the dome temp says. 450 dome gives me 600 GrillGrate temp. Boneless chicken breasts at temp mentioned takes a total of 16 minutes, 4 minutes then turn, 4 minutes, then flip repeat. They are pretty awesome.

I have them on my Weber Genesis gasser. They really do prevent flare ups. They also raise the temp at witch you grill. You can also add some smoke flavor by adding pellets in the channels. Great grill marks. I'm really glad I bought these.
