Has anyone used or seen one of these in person?
I ask, because I just randomly filled out a sweepstakes entry from an email I had in my inbox a couple of days ago from SNSGrills.com, and somehow, the next day, find out on Facebook that I won both a SNS Deluxe, and a Craycort ballistic griddle. I do understand that Craycort was acquired by SNSGrills recently, so this is just now part of the SNS product line. And I am not sure what Mjaik is, but apparently that is the website that sells the Craycort cast iron grates and these ballistic griddles. I replied to an email from SNSGrills.com, but the shipping notice for my prizes came from Mjaik at Shopify...
So, in a few days, I'll have a shiny new SNS Deluxe, and a shiny new stainless "ballistic" griddle to test out on my kettle or kamado. And I'll need to find someone to donate one of the old SNS inserts to... or gift them the new one. I hate to get rid of my first gen one, which was when it was made in the US.
I am mostly hyped up to try a 1/4 inch thick griddle plate on the kettle, as I tried to cook before with the stainless Drip 'N Griddle, and it warped on me, as it could not handle high heat from the coals. I feel this one, being 1/4" thick, will handle all the heat I can throw at it, and make an excellent searing station over the SNS. I picture using it if I want to make a small number of smash burgers, without firing up and then cleaning the Camp Chef, or for searing steaks that I start/finish in the indirect zone.
The question will be if it can be non-stick, since it is stainless. My experience with stainless versus cast iron skillets is that lots of oil will be required...
