Ok David Parrish , since you have spilled the beans on another thread about the XL SnS for the 26" kettle when will it be available?

We expect to have them ready to ship within the next two weeks. The XL isn't just bigger than the standard Slow 'N Sear, it has an additional feature we call the base plate. This plate is welded onto the bottom and acts as a charcoal holder as well as a stabilizer. It works really well at holding lump charcoal, which often has small pieces that fall through the stock kettle grate, and it stabilizes the Slow 'N Sear so you can easily slide it around. The plate also allows you to dump unused charcoal easily back into your chimney for relighting on a subsequent cook. I've been using the XL for a couple of months now and I can say it's a game changer for 26" kettle owners.

Tomorrow I'll see if I have some pics I can share. Stay tuned!

Dude, if a Mercy Seat and a couple cherubim can be hammered from pure gold, surely you can hammer enough to form something to fit an XL. I would, but my hands are too tired from millions of dead pollo.

Yeehawwww!!! I'm headed to Academy tomorrow. Thankfully I'm limited on funds. Plus I need room for a hot water heater from Home Depot.

David Parrish Since you are spilling the beans, didn't you mention a deluxe SnS for the 22" that may be in the works? I remember it sounded like it would have the addition of the base plate. The idea was to take advantage of the ignition system on the Performers so you could ignite the coals, then slide the SnS into place. I was thinking about a Performer, but this XL may just push me into a 26" Kettle.

Not sure we're going to have pre-order. I'll check with the Boss (read wife).

Yep we're going to have a similar base plated version of the standard Slow 'N Sear. This one is a little different though as the base plate is going to be held in by stainless steel clips. We call it the "retrofit plate" because you can buy it separately and it fits on Slow 'N Sears we've already sold.

Is the baseplate perforated, or solid? I am thinking perforated for air flow?

Will you post a pic of the base plate? I have a 22" version.

I think I'll call the XL SnS, the "big daddy". Can't wait to order it! Now, I've got to figure out how to get the purchase "approved", if you know what I mean.

You have other choices... Approval or an apology.😆

I'm a big fan of the apology approach cause you're more likely to get the thing you're wanting

I did that just the other day in fact. Hurts though, like really bad hurts.

Pit Boss... It doesn't hurt to buy a trinket your wife has been wanting at the same time you buy your new toy.🤔

If the issue gets to be a real issue you have an out.😆👍

Thank goodness I don't have that problem. The wife gets what she wants and I get what I want...it's all good 😎

Well crap, I can see where this is going. I will have to buy the new XL and so I don't feel guilty about orphaning my first SnS, I will have to buy a 22" crimson kettle to keep it company on top of buying the retrofit plate as a kiss and make up present. I will let my wife know what she can buy me for my May Day present.
