    SnS Marketing Moment

Now that I am into several successful SnS cooks, all of which have been great, I find my reservoir with lots of gunk caked up around the bottom. Been watching it all along, but it really took over during the huli huli chicken fest last weekend.
Have you given any thought to cleaning the reservoir? Apologies if you have and I can't find it. A flat scrapper is obvious and does work a bit, but the gunk tends to be gooey and sticky and the scraper only seems to push it further into the point.
Until you find something to fill the need, I'll keep at it with the scraper and long flat-head screwdriver.
Don't want any money. Good cooks and the tool itself are plenty good royalties. Ha!

Mygrane I don't have gunk in my WR, but I don't let meat hang over it either.

    Anyone else running into this?

No gunk in my water reservoir David Parrish ...

I'm with you on intentionally keeping the meat from dripping in there. That and I use foil to keep the gunk off the bottom of the kettle too.

Planning to not have to clean is much easier than cleaning is.😎

I've had some gunk get in there. I tend to let it go dry and burns it out. Cleans pretty easy at that point. I was going to fab a pie shaped tool to scrape it. I would be looking for that thing all the time so I did not.

Sometimes some caked ashes. Rinsed it out once with hot water when I decided to look for my "limited Edition" inscription.

I would think some really hot water and Dawn detergent would do the trick.

I've got some gunk. NO clue how it got there since I don't have any meat close to it while smoking. It is in the middle. I think I was able to tap some out the other day.

I do a lot of reverse sear technique and sometimes have more than can fit directly over the direct heat - (whole chicken, rack of ribs x2, etc).
Guess I keep forgetting this thing is really well made and can handle a good hot burn with no water.
              Thanks for the help everyone!
