    New To Me Deli Slicer

A good friend gave me his old Hobart 1612 deli slicer that he used in his now-defunct pizza joint. It has been sitting in his barn for several years and it shows.

I chased the Black Widows out of it and tore it down for cleaning and restoring. I figure after about $400-$500 in parts I'll have a slicer that's worth at least $300-$350!

    "After" pics to follow.

Can’t see your pics, but sounds like a good deal.

Wait, you’re investing $400-500 in parts to have something worth $300-350? You had one to many margaritas out there in Jefferson land? Sure you don’t mean $40-50?

Honestly, adding up everything I'd "like" to replace (much of it cosmetic) it would likely run into that $400-$500 range. What I need and should replace will keep me in that $300 range which makes more sense for something I'll use once a month or so. Good grief, that thing must weigh 90 lbs and I still don't know where or how I'm going to store it!

CaptainMike , I could use that once a month too! What are you going to charge for rent? Shipping could be a concern I suppose. Lol. Congrats! Looks like a good slicer!

The rent is free, but that beast isn't going to move once I figure out it's final resting place. Actually, I'm ideating a mobile base so it might move a little.

A can of bar keepers friend scouring powder and a few rags will work wonders on appearance of that beast.

Picked up a jar of that very product yesterday! Gonna put a little elbow grease into it today and see if I can bring back a little shine.

A "new to me" slicer is great, but be careful with used meat.

          Sage advice, as always.
