Yea like almost $20/lb. I'm sure the high heat coefficients are amazing (and great for cooking) but bang for the buck? Hard to justify unless you're some kind of purist. Hmmmm, maybe Spinaker can tell us about this, he likes the fancy smancy charcoal
I agree - you might as well burn dollar bills. (Well - almost) But this stuff has been discussed here several times, so I thought some might be interested.
I have worked with Binchotan and it burns clean and hot, but remember, good charcoal is almost flavorless. Charcoal is for heat, wood is for flavor. The best part of binchotan is that it is so pure that they would make great wind chimes. The sound is like glassware clinking.
