Just got an email for a sale on this knife sharpening system and thought someone might be interested in it, with all the discussions I've seen on the topic
I've been getting emails from Lee Valley for about 2 decades. First found them when I went whole hog on hand tool woodworking in the early 2000's. I own probably a dozen or more of their high-end hand tools.
Took me a while before I found out they also have kitchen and gardening stuff! Some pretty interesting stuff now and again, And I've bought a few things over the years.
Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with the company. Talked to the owners at trade shows once in a while. So when you buy 2 or 3 $400+ items, at those shows they like to get to know you! Seemed like really down to earth people who cared about their customers. You save on shipping when you buy at the shows, I'd save my pennies for a year, then hit the closest show for a day with some friends.
Disclaimer 2: Just like for woodworking tools (chisels, plane blades, hand saws etc...), there are countless different ways, systems, jigs, types of media, thing-a-ma-jigs to sharpen knives with. I don't own nor have ever tried this system, but I've never bought something from Lee Valley that I thought was junk. Are they the cheapest? Probably not! But they seem to care about selling quality goods.
If anyone buys one, I'd be interested to hear what they think!
