    Favorite rib slicing knife

I am looking for a good (and inexpensive) rib slicing/carving knife. Any suggestions?

Check out the info in the Ratings & Reviews section of this site:

There are thousands of kitchen tools and gadgets out there. Here's a sensible guide to the ones you need and the ones you don't.

The highly recommended (and inexpensive) Rapala fillet knife is popular.

I will be buying the Rapala. Thanks!

Some folks for competition use electric knives to slice the ribs.

I have three of those Rapala filet knives......I use them mostly for pre-cook trimming.

Dexter makes a good, inexpensive one and it is made in the U.S.A. http://www.amazon.com/Dexter-13463-1...s=dexter+knife

I have a bread knife and a chefs knife from that same line of knives. They are inexpensive and they hold their edge nicely. I run them over a steel now and then to realign the edge some.

I think you'll like that knife. Smart & Final stocks the entire collection.

Those are great knives. The handles are coarse so they don't slip around when your hands are wet.

No doubt that will slice your ribs.

I have many world class forged german steel knives worth hundreds of dollars each. My favorite boning knife and the one I always use to slice my ribs is less than $10.

Yeah, I love the Rapala. You can get large sizes. Flexible, and cheap enough to chuck if it can't be sharpened.

I've owned Rapala knives since I started salmon & steelhead fishing in the Pacific Northwest 40 years ago. They are a great knife.

I use an inexpensive Chicago Cutlery boning knife. Why? Because the Rapala fillet knife is in the drawer and the boning knife is on the magnetic rack within easy reach. LOL In any case, I don't recommend spending big bucks for a knife that is, essentially, a consumable. Save the cash for a good french knife, or whatever as these last far longer.

Ok, so I'm bringing this post back from the boneyard...

My favorite knife for cutting ribs is the J.A. Henckels International Classic 5 inch Serrated Utility Knife. Copy and paste that into Amazon and you have it for $36.00. Sharp as hell, the serrations cut through the bark with no tearing and it holds its edge.

It came as part of a set, I really didn't expect much of it but I was pleasantly surprised. It's well worth the price.
