Does anyone have experience with Sharpners out of Naples, FL? Mail knives to them, they sharpen and return. Maybe others out there also. Looking to get my knives sharpened by a good service to start, then buy a good system to do on my on. Any feedback is appreciated!

I have used Sharpenters several times, and am happy. My niece and her husband live in Ft. Myers, and hubs works in Naples, so they'd heard of them. He took some of their knives there and left for the day, was quite happy. I sent several batches, everything from not that dull knives I use all the time, to sewing shears, to the knives that were wedding presents for my parents ~1953 and likely never sharpened since. I'm sold, they did a good job. I'm only a ~2hr drive from there, so don't know how shipping would change at larger distances. I ordered, they sent the shipping sleeves and instructions quickly, got them a day or two later. They have clear directions, and send you everything you need for taping, cardboard sleeving, etc, for safe shipping. I think I sent 8-10 things at once, two or three times, when I started with them. Got notice in ~2-3 days on the way back, shipped back in equally safe and well packaged form, and did a good job. I had some cheap knives that had bent tips, etc, that I primarily use for opening packages, they fixed those so now straight and sharp. My inherited grandmother/great aunt's sewing shears, also sharp. They did some serrated bread knives, and "steak knives" well. The only thing they couldn't do was one of those bow and arrow looking bread knives (I'll go take a photo and add here) because they couldn't take it apart to sharpen the blade. I have on my calendar now to send them periodically, I've decided every 4-6 months I'll examine and decide what I need. Two thumbs up for me.
Edit: ok, this was faster and simpler. I have a knife similar to this, albeit prob 25 years older, that I never use. I asked about it, and they politely said they need to be able to take apart to sharpen. I just realized I haven't touched it in forever, headed for the donate pile now. Sharpenters, however, is a keeper for my house. https://www.amazon.com/TYOARO-Wooden...n%2C103&sr=1-6Last edited by acorgihouse; July 22, 2023, 07:46 AM.
