So to give my background. I own a variety of knives from cheapo, to German and high end handmade Japanese. I also manage our game processing facility at work with a good variety of 50ish knives. on top of that, I sharpened knives professionally for years and have had the chance to handle and use most every knife out there. A few weeks ago I had a half drink too many and ordered a Misen chef and utility knife knowing I wasted $100 for the both of them.
I've had the opportunity to handle and use them enough to have an opinion and for $50 it is an overwhelming WOW. They feel better in the hand than my German knives and the balance is great. They are thin enough behind the edge to slice well, but rigid enough to bone with. The half bolster is a huge plus as the heel/bolster doesn't affect the function at all. For $50 I don't think you can buy a better performing knife.
One potential downside is being Chinese made, but that's why it"s so cheap. Overall this is a great budget buy!
