    Commercial Grade Poultry Scissors?

I need to purchase a dozen or so poultry shears for our game processing facility. They will mostly be used on quail, dove and duck. we probably process a few thousand birds a year with these shears. I've being doing some research and I'm trying to decide if something like the Zwilling Twin Select shears are worth $100 vs the OXO brand. If the Zwilling would last 5 or so years they would be worth the investment. If not I'm content with buying cheap that will perform well for a season and replace each year.

... not cheap but might be worth a look.

Jerod Broussard might have input on this, maybe.

I think the end goal is for my co workers to have fingers at the end of the day😂

Been years since they used scissors here extensively. Nothing special I can recall other than food safe.

Well that, and the potential for them to grow legs and walk off.

We’ve got a few pairs of those. They are good shears!

Love my Cutco shears as well. But the handles do make it a bit hard to get leverage.

I use pruning shears, the anvil ones. Great power for any back bone on the cheap, $12 at your average hardware store.

gboss I just wash them like I would any scissors. The anvil ones don't have the deep goove like bypass shears do.

I can spatchcock a chicken faster with a knife than with poultry shears. You can catch a how to on YouTube.

I am proficient with a knife, but you have to consider my question. Theres 8-10 different people that will be processing thousands of birds from quail to large geese. It's more about people being efficient in getting the job done without having to invest too much time learning a new skill set if they don't have much interest in it.

ILMsmoke I am guessing that your workers change regularly, so training them would be a waste of time.

No, we have nearly zero turnover. It’s a very small part of their job and not worth it the time investment. In regards to your first comment on spatchcock chicken. I never said anything about chickens or spatchcocking. My stated use was for wild fowl that we won’t be spatchcocking, but removing 100’s of wings in one cleaning sometimes.

Chicken, leave it to cleaver! Those are very nice shears you are considering. I would fear as Jerod Broussard says, "and the potential for them to grow legs and walk off." Those have already grown one leg

I’ve found people don’t steal from a job that’ll just give it to them anytime they need it. I’ll admit that work at an unusual place…

fzxdoc had a suggestion from Lowes.
I ended up buying something similar, couldn’t find those exact shears. Now I can never find them when I need them( Kim loves them too )Sharp n powerful in lawn/garden-tools.

They easily cut through poultry bones.
