The Last set of Knives I bought

Now, I post this after reading all the other threads about knives and sporks this week, and while this is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, its also sorta serious.

Don't laugh, but this is what I bought to replace a bunch of beat up 25-30 year old kitchen knives 3 years ago, and they are still going strong. It's like the total polar opposite of what Panhead John just bought, but for chopping veggies and supplementing my good knives, they work.

It's almost comical that you can buy a rainbow colored knife set for $15.46 with free Prime shipping, but there you have it. I toss these in the dishwasher, and don't have to worry about others (who shall not be named) that come in the kitchen ruining them.

I hide my Victorinox slicer, Dexter boning knife and Rapala fillet knife away in a different drawer, so said others don't ruin them cutting on the glass cutting boards I tried to toss, or use them to cut on the ceramic countertop (yes, it has been seen to happen).

I am probably going to get a 3 piece set from Misen, but will still keep these in the knife drawer as knives that can be abused and tossed in the dishwasher.

Tempted to just setup an Amazon subscription on these. Then there are no worries with even sharpening them!

I think I need a set of those for many of the same reasons.

We have a set of these too, keep in the patio kitchen. Highly recommend as well.

What can I say. I am a cheap-skate in some areas.

I may have to get a set of those for the rv and when we VRBO. Worst part of every VRBO is usually the knives!

I have a set of those that I use for camping, or to take with me when I go to the in-laws to cook. They work well enough, though they require constant honing, which I guess one should expect given the price point. I do like the colors, though, because when I ask my kids for a knife, telling them to get the red one is much more effective than asking for the slicer, 8" chef or whatever I need.

I've yet to ever sharpen this set, but may pull out the Worksharp and give them all a little TLC tonight while watching TV with the Mrs.

I went back to Amazon and see a few reviews complaining about the coating (color) coming off the blades. We've used these for over 3 years, and these knives get tossed in the dishwasher - shorter ones in the utensil basket, and the longer ones laid across the upper rack, and I've yet to see any issues. I think the green paring knife gets used the most by my wife, and it looks a little faded from more trips through the dishwasher than the rest, but that's about it.

Well, I don't know if I'd say the color is coming off my blades, but it is definitely fading. The weird thing is that on all the knives, it is the same side that fades, while the other side is more or less fine. Another reason I got these knives is that my wife's insistence on putting my good knives in the dishwasher was a constant source of aggravation for me. These knives, though, I don't care - she can do whatever she wants with them.
