Thank You for the comments. I have read both reviews
and the posts on the Fireboard, and it seems like the superior unit. I only wish it had a bigger screen.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Update on run time: I lowered the "Interval Rate" to 60 seconds (from 10 seconds) and it ran somewhere near 14hrs before the display shut off. Well, at 14hrs I noticed it was off, it could have been 12.5hrs for all I know, I just noticed it at 14hrs. It apparently wasn't "dead" since plugging it in brought it back to life immediately. According to the painstaking way to tell how much battery is left, it seemed to lose about ~15% every 2hrs, give or take.
To check actual battery percentage left, (from the app only):
1) Tap any probe to focus on it
2) Tap the little gear icon in the top-right of the individual probe screen to enter Settings
3) Tap the blue "OPTIONS" button at the bottom of the settings screen
4) Select "Advanced Info" from the pop-up box.
Battery Level is in the middle of the next pop-up box
When charging it does not say time to full charge, it simply says "Charging".
I am testing this unit indoors. I don't have any low & slow cooks planned this week (or last) so my tests so far are simply regarding connections & run times. As an aside, the graph has been handy seeing how my house furnace performs overnight.
Alarms (from the device or the app)
Easy to set from either, and setting or changing from either the device or the app instantly adjusts the other.
When setting alarm values from the app, they don't update until you back out to display all 4 probes (Home screen). It made me think my adjustment didn't take right away.
As mentioned by someone else, when you're ~10deg from a set value (low or high) that probe's icon color on your app turns yellow.
When you reach or exceed a set alarm that probe's icon color turns red and the alarm sounds on the base and my phone vibrated.
There's a Mute button on the app which has instant reaction from the base unit, which is very nice.
Attjack Yes, you can. But not practical during a cook if you don't want to be tied to a plug. Thankfully it seems to go past 12hrs, which for me is plenty even with a brisket cook.
Several years ago one of my sons gave me a little usb rechargeable battery pack he found at 5 Below, for you guessed it, $5.00. I was afraid to use it on any of my expensive equipment so I threw it in a drawer. Late last year I was doing a long winter cook with my fireboard and noticed the battery was low so I got the battery pack out of the drawer and recharged it. After it was charged I plugged it into the fireboard still connected to the smoker and it replenished the FB’s battery back to full.
I now have it charged and available for any long cooks as a backup.
Not saying go buy a $5 battery pack, but Amazon has plenty with good reviews for around $10.
I use battery packs like that for camping weekends so that my phone doesn't completely die in case I need it for an emergency (mostly using it for pics and the occasional weather update while camping). I even have one that can recharge on solar.
