    Chef Alarm and Thermapen disagree

Did a turkey breast for dinner, and checked it with the Thermapen: 157*. But it felt done, so I checked it with the Chef Alarm, and it was 175*.

Both are Thermoworks products, so something must be amiss. If I were to guess, I’d say the battery in the Thermapen needs to be replaced, since it gets used a lot more.

    Any other thoughts?

Edit: I calibrated both, maybe 2-3 years ago. I don’t see that they would go out of calibration.

I'd do a quick boiling water test. I can't imagine a weak battery would lead to off-readings, maybe a dim display but it shouldn't affect the reading. I know water or humidity on the jack will affect the readouts on many thermometers, including ThermoWorks, so my suspicion is it's the Chef Alarm's fault, not the T-pen. I look forward to what you find out.

Like Huskee said, I'd suspect a bad probe over the TPen being off. I had one of the food probes on my ET-733 go all wonky on me during a cook the other day. I suspect that that probe may be dying.
