The Thermapen and the batteries survived two times in the washer and were about 3 years old. I feared it died but just replaced the batteries and it works like a champ. Well worth the $79.00 I paid a few years ago..

Good to hear! I'm all in on spares. I have so many spare ThermoWorks Pro-Series probes (the ones used by DOT, ChefAlarm, Smoke) that half could die or be killed by me and I'd still be ok. I have a ThermoPop and 2 Thermapens, and the list goes on. Don't tell my wife.
