Has anyone read on what the accessory "smoke gateway" will actually do with the smoke and if its something you can buy additionally if you already have a smoke?

Found some more info on it. You can actually pre-order now, but you do not need to buy a new unit to have it. Wondering if it will really help the wireless signal that much.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

It will extend your range the distance your WiFi reaches at your home or wherever you use it. If your entire home has WiFi, but the receiver typically wouldn't work at the far side of your home with the standard RF reception, with the gateway it will. I think more than range extension within the home though it offers the convenience of the app, which is likely to include graphing and whatever other goodies they build into it, plus your smartphone becomes a receiver as well. I am not sure if it will include the convenience of 'the cloud', so you can check your smoker's temp when you're up town, but that could be a possibility too.

That would be big with a lot of people! The great thing about apps though is even if the initial release doesn't have certain things there's always the possibility they can add those elements with updates in the future.

Exactly. Can't wait for it to come out. Earlier I stated I thought you could pre-order it but I talked to a rep online and you cannot yet. They don't even have an official release date of it yet.
Looking real closely at the pic of their app on their website you can see a tab called "Graphs". Whether that will actually be in the app when it is delivered only they know.
What I would be more interested in is whether you can download and keep your data. One of the early concerns with the FireBoard was that the data is on their server and while one can store so many hours on their server they did also want to charge a monthly fee for heavier users. Many of us expressed concern about that and they did later respond and one can easily download a delimited file so we can keep/massage our data ourselves.
I have no idea what Thermowroks will do in that regard.
I have the Smoke and it is a worthy device but for my needs I'm in love with my FireBoard.
I think the FireBoard is the Cat's A--S in MHOP! In fairness I have a Lot to Learn but the simple fact You can Name all 6 Probes! Thx Gvg Turkey I had Two Grill Probes, Left Breast & Thigh, Right Breast & Thigh for a Total of 6 Probes!

Wish I would've heard of the Fireboard last month. I received Smoke as a gift and it's pretty much worthless. The range is less than a Maverick which is pretty dang bad. I was excited about Thermoworks coming out with a new product and was planning on purchasing the wifi portion. Now I'm not so sure.
