    Maverick ET-733 Thermometer

Awaiting delivery of my new ET-733 tomorrow. Anybody have one of these? Should be quite an upgrade from my old Maverick single-probe.

    #2
Iron Bulldog, I have a Maverick ET 733, I have had it for +-1 1/2 Yrs Now! I truly like the fact that I can Monitor both the Cook and the Grill Temps From the Kitchen Table where my Beer Is! The negatives in my Mind are; 1: You nearly have to be a Computer Programer to Set it Up or Change Settings or Alarms, I am Not! 2: When I first bought it it had 1-Food Probe and 1- Grill Probe both were Non Water Resistant 3' in Lenth? I bought Two
New 6' - Dual Purpose Probes Non Water Resistant? The Only Water Proof Probes I have found are 3' in Length? I would like a set 4'-5' in Length?
I wish Maverick offered Spools or Probe Minders of some Sort for Storage! The same batteries are it as came with it! It is very accurate in a Boiling Water Test and Compared to a Thermapen! There you have it The Good, The Bad, and by The Ugly! One of These Days I Will Read the Book?

I'm no programmer my self Dan, but we can make it work. As long as I know my temps without having to use my 270 deer rifle to look out the window with, I can figure it out. My wife really looks at me funny in the winter when I do that, but she ALWAYS has looked at me funny!

I also own one and love it. I had to go to You Tube and watch a video on how to program it. The directions are definitely confusing!

Yeah, been tempted to pull the plug on the 733, looks too much like a dang $200+ item. Wife will never believe it costs less than that.

Ahh come on it wont hurt that bad, Jerod. She'll only be mad for awhile. My wife just shakes her head, she gave up on me a long time ago!

I've been wanting to pull the trigger on one of these. Only problem is, it's just a digital readout and not a nice graph on my cell phone. I know another model by Maverick has the nice graph, but it got bad reviews because the Bluetooth craps out often due to very short range or lousy receiver. If I want a good double-probe like the Maverick and a nice graph over time on my phone, what should I buy? Same price range as the 733.

I have one. Just used it on the brisket I smoked on Memorial Day. Worked well, very good range. Little bit of a learning curve but once you use it a few times it's easy.

Get 6 foot hybrid probes. Hybrid allows you to use either probe for grate probe and food probe; however, I generally keep them separate.

I lost 1 probe this year, but the system is going on 2 years old. There is a thread on this site (I think DWCowles started it) about sealing the probe ends where the cable runs into it to prevent moisture from getting inside the probe.

The 1 thing I learned is to remove the batteries after each use, otherwise the system eats them up even if you think it's turned OFF. When I re-insert the batteries, both units are already ON without me touching a button.

Also, I can't program it until probe / transmitter / receiver are talking to each other. Programming is a little tricky, but there are YouTubes, etc.

All in all, this is a "Must Have" as temp monitoring is essential for your cooks. You'll love being able to monitor everything from afar with the receiver.

I use these for storage. Keep probes in the original padded envelope, and have 1 each
( right envelope ) for transmitter, receiver, batteries + screwdriver. I don't seal the envelopes -- Ed

I have the ET 732 and 733. If I only need one unit, I grab the 732. Easier to use as I only use it to montor temps. I did get the hybrid probes. Going to get another 732 from Amazon that has an extra 6' probe included

Just don't throw them on a sink full of water and you'll be fine. Treat them like you do your knife.
