Thermometer things I wish for…

1) How about an app that works with ANY wireless probe. I know, not realistic. But why not? Seriously. If a wireless probe is giving off a signal, an app should be able to receive and translate it. That way I could monitor my FireBoard Pulse and my ThermoPro Temp Spike without switching back and forth between apps.

2) How about a wireless refrigerator and freezer probe that could be used with an app? Such as, FireBoard or ThermoWorks could make a pair of wireless, AAA battery powered cold probes that I could monitor with my FireBoard or ThermoWorks app from anywhere I have WiFi.

Would anyone else find such things useful?

It would, but the signal is probably encoded and considered a proprietary trade secret, so unless they all get together to establish a standard it is not likely to happen.

I doubt number 1 will ever exist because the market is not large enough to make that compatibility worth it.

2 does exist I believe. I thought I saw similar features on $100 freezer thermometers.

I saw that. I want one where the probe is completely inside the freezer. It’s the wire through the freezer seal that I want to eliminate.

I am not recommending any of those to be clear. But I am inclined to think some more research could turn up a reasonable one of sufficient quality.
