I just ordered a fireboard pulse. Can't wait, I am so tired of the wired probes.

I don't have the FireBoard pulse but it is on my list. If it is even close in quality to the FireBoard Drive and the regular probes you are in for a treat. I was one of the lucky ones to be in the FireBoard product test group on the forum and when released I really believe it will be a game changer for fans of the Weber Kettle (still sworn to secrecy)

Ran a long cook yesterday. On bluetooth only (no S1G antenna thingy) I think you could get 35-40 hours on a single charge, this should degrade over time to still allow a 24 hour cook if needed so that's nice.
As reviewed here on AR my unit is also within .4 degrees, which is great. However the thermo is much thicker than I would like coupled with the 5 second intervals for temp readings I won't be using this device as much as my wired probes, but for longer cooks or especially reverse searing steaks it will be super nice not to be tethered to a cable when ya gotta move things around.
So this pic is as far as I can get without an S1G antenna, there is a line of sight via a bay window into the kitchen but it still didn't like that distance.
The range was similar in the oven with a foil wrapped protein
Overall I'm pleased with the unit, one day it would be nice if they could get the diameter down a little
Cleaning wise, the round opening needs a little extra attention, but otherwise its just as simple to clean as any other probe.

Mosca the Fireboard 2 is connected to wifi, but the pulse connects to your phone or the Fireboard via Bluetooth. This the short range between the cooker and fireboard, but the fireboard sends via wifi to my phone or PC. If you buy the additional S1G antenna the distance between pulse and fireboard can expand. For me it's not worth the money for that. This works fine.

Okay. What I was thinking was to connect the Pulse to the FireBoard 2 via Bluetooth, keeping that near the smoker. Which then sends the signal to your phone, allowing you to travel across town? Again, this stuff isn’t my wheelhouse, at all.
I picked up the S1G anyhow. It was cheap. But I don’t think I need it.
I agree on the diameter, but at the same time it’s not that big a deal. In a couple years we’ll all be thinking “Wow, those were HUGE!” though!

Mosca correct, though the S1G should give your fireboard.more options of where to sit. In my house with just Bluetooth, that little end table by the sliding door is the only option.

I need to upgrade to this. The wires are the worst. Once you give it a run, let us know how you like it.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
I got mine the other day, tested it, it exactly matches my calibrated ChefAlarm to one decimal place. I used it for the first time yesterday, on a meatloaf in the oven. Set to 165°, watched the game, got the alarm, ate dinner. Very nice.

Man this is so tempting. I have not made a BBQ related purchase in ages. (Well gear/smokers anyway)
