BogySTEbbq My primary "beef" with CI, and I had a back and forth with Chris Young about it, is that they consciously chose to avoid WiFi because many folks struggle with WiFi, even though the ability to monitor regardless of distance from the monitoring of temps is WiFi's greatest strength. I just don't buy his arguments. And I have bugged FB about it since they have a great, reliable WiFi platform with the FB, FB2 and FB Drive, so why not have wireless probes that talk to that platform.
(cont) and now, with the Pulse, it looks like they have it! And it fits into their existing, and to me, superior cloud-based, App rich ecosystem. BT vs S1G is a rather minor thing to me, as my expectation is having the Pulse connect to the FB, which I then use in WiFi mode and can monitor and do whatever through their App regardless of where I am in the house or away from it for whatever reason.
Thanks for the answers. I figured I was missing something, so the backstory filled it in. It looks good, I've been putting off buying some of the alternatives, now I have to decide if I'm going to buy one right away or let others test it for me. I loved my Smoke with the wi-fi bridge until Thermoworks broke it by updating the app so it was unusable.
I’ll definitely be looking forward to the launch. I’ve got one Combustion Inc probe and have always thought 6 temp zones is overkill. I hope it is SV ready.
I of course love smoked meats of all kinds, but also like quick cooks like chicken portions, pork tenderloins, steak and fish. Really into cooking of all kinds.
My outdoor kitchen has a Lone Star Grillz Adjustable and it is wonderful. There also is a Pit Boss 5 Burner Ultimate Griddle and a Pit Boss Copperhead pellet grill.
There is an outdoor fire pit that has grilling capability and limited Santa Maria-style grill raising and lowering.
Wouldn’t you know? I just took delivery of a Meater 2 Plus. I agonized between it and Combustion, Inc, but went with the 1000 degree capability for ambient. Wonder what top ambient will be for this? I do LOVE my FireBoard.
I was close on the combustion, but not hearing best on battery life put me back on the sidelines watching the wireless battle unfold. I love my fireboards, so I am so happy they are releasing, i've spent a bit of money lately on my cooking tools, etc.., I think I will have this early on and hope I'm not a sucker.

I had a funeral today and I'm trying to make my way through 80 backlogged emails. Finally made it down to this one. I knew by now there would have to be a thread started. I like that it will connect to the Fireboard 2 or to the app on my phone. I won't have to deal with another device or app. And I can still use the wired probes and add in the wireless at the same time.
15-minute charge and 24-hour run time? We'll see... I'm skeptical, but, hope to see this actually turn out to be true.
The problem with colored probes is they all end up the same color in the end - black! No matter how much you clean them. How durable are they for scrubbing?? Hopefully a LOT, and the color or paint or whatever they use will last through scrubbing over time.
Also, how many probes will the app support? Or one FB2 support? I've been wanting to upgrade my old FB to the FB2 - now it looks like this will be more push to do so - and then slowly add on wireless thermometer upgrades one at a time. Sadly, I've never known FB to offer many sales or discounts.
I'm interested - though skeptical. This will definitely keep me from buying the Typhur for a little while, though.
The FB2 has six ports, and six "windows" for the readouts, so I'm guessing that would be the limit for the unit. The app could be different. I'd probably start out with one. I can't see myself buying six at one time at $150 a pop. FB does sometimes run deals on the probes, which is when I stock up. I don't suppose they will consider these "probes".
