My old Maverick let me down last cook so I bought a new Thermoworks smoke, it arrived today. I have watched you tube videos and it sure looks easier to program. My old maverick was difficult to program. Here are both of them on my work bench in garage.
This is our third Thermoworks device I think it may be an addiction?

Been smoking a handful of years, just got serious in the last two or three years. Thanks to AR n @glemn picked up an SnS Kamado for appx 1/3 price of new. I dont think he used it twice. Love AR! keep calm n smoke on! Miss you Bonesy.
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Not much to "program" on the Smoke, haha. Just hit the SET button, set your high alarm, hit it again, set your low alarm, then hit it again to be done. You can toggle the alarms off and on as well with another button. Personally I am happy to have something that straight-forward.
LSG Adjustable Grill/Smoker, MAK Pellet Grill, Large BGE with Several Attachments from the Ceramic Grill Store, Weber Genesis E335 Gasser, Cast Iron Pans & Griddle, Grill Grates, Mostly Thermoworks Thermometers, Anova SV Stick, BBQ Guru Controller and Fan
Can testify as well to Thermoworks’ excellent customer service. The kickstand on my 7 year old Smoke broke a couple of months ago and they forwarded a free replacement in quick order, no questions asked. Great products, great service. Enjoy your new Smoke!
I have an old ET-732 that I use more than my fireboard and thing just keeps ticking. I agree the alarms are annoying to set up so I never do, I just keep an eye on the remote unit.
Congrats on the new toy!
I'm not trying to be a naysayer, but I must say I have not had such a great experience with all the Thermoworks products. It could very easily be me (that happens a lot), but still....
I have an ET-732 also, mine is the copperish color but otherwise is the one in the middle of the photo above. Used a long time, loved it, but got stars in my eyes when I saw the newer ones, so I bit. I still have that ET-732, recently brought in from it's last resting place in the garage, as I've decided I'm going to clean it up and re-battery, and use again. It worked fine, and I kept primarily (IIRC) as I thought the probes would fit a newer unit, but nevermind, I still have it. It's lying in the laundry room right now, waiting for me to fix it back up. Will do that as soon as I get up from here.
I have several Thermapops, one I gave away and one I think was stolen by an unsavory relative, but still have one or two. They are great, but obviously of limited usefulness.
I have a Thermapen, and it's great (and my fav color), but most recently when the batteries died I have had a heckuva time getting that little spinny battery cover off the back. I don't know if I left it outside in too much heat, and it glued itself in, or my old lady weakness is just inadequate, but you can see in the photo below I have totally destroyed the screwdriver slot trying to get it open. Have about given up.
I have/had a Smokex4 for some time, absolutely loved it, but the little battery contact things seemed loose and I had to use a toothpick to hold in place when I changed batteries. Especially hard to keep the little spring in place, as one was very loose and wobbly. The last time (about a year ago, maybe) I went to change the batteries, one of the little springs flew off and across the room, and although I know it is in my house, I have never found it. I contacted Thermoworks, the guy got back to me fast but seemed a little snidely disbelieving that "a little spring would fly off across the room." Sent me a mailing label, said I could send back and they would check if still under warranty, and look at it if yes. I looked at when I bought, figured no longer warrantied, and decided to spring for something new.
Got a Signals. I like it very much, also my fav color, but my biggest issue is it doesn't stay charged long enough for a longer cook. For a steak, it's fine, to smoke a corned beef into pastrami, it doesn't last, and pastrami is one of my favorite things. I don't have an outlet near where I use it to charge while using, so it just about gets to the stall and the thing goes dead. I could charge up a power stick and plug in when the thing is dying, but that seems a bit heroic for a grill thermometer, no matter how good it is otherwise.
It makes me want to move things to the inside oven, which is usually what I do "when it has enough smoke on it", because the oven has a probe I can plug right into the wall of it, and it will actually even turn the oven off when reaching programmed temp.
Should be easier.
