Ordered some probes for a Signals 4 probe I recently purchased from JOE Sousa.
They arrived in a high quality box and well packaged too. Also thrown in was a sample bag of Jelly Belly jelly beans!!
Totally unexpected and they didn't last the hour Found out I really like the hot cinnamon ones
Shipping from order to open the package was 5 days, I'm Impressed!
Totally satisfying experience. Good job theremoworks!!
For the real thing:
When it comes to licorice, I like brands from Finland and Australia.
For buttered popcorn--almost any movie theatre, along with a bucket-sized cup of Diet Coke.
Retired, living in Western Mass. Enjoy music, cooking and my family.
Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex, SnS and a Smokey Joe. The most recent addition is a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, 2 ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. A Thermoworks RFX Gateway 2 probe meat thermometer.
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Thermoworks is top notch, and they always include that little bag of jelly beans even on warranty RMA work, when they ship stuff back to you.
I've had great service and support from Thermoworks, and even though I understand Fireboard to have some great technical advantages, will be sorely tempted to stay with Thermoworks if I ever decide to expand beyond my 2 channel Smoke setup. Of course, I also have a 4 channel Weber Connect hub I keep forgetting about, so I am blessed with 6 channels of wireless temperature monitoring already....
Now let's not get carried away. With Fireboard, you'll end up liking:
1. All 6 channels feeding into the same app, along with your ATC drive
2. The app which allows you to include photos and comments throughout the cook in the same document. Plus the cook logs are saved in Fireboard's cloud and are so easily searchable. With that, I can see, for example, all of my pork butt cooks and track the the technique modifications I tested, along with the results.
3. Those skinny short probes

When it comes to Fireboard and Thermoworks, I like 'em both. They each have a place in my house and fill their particular niches perfectly.
For example, the batteries in both of the cheap personal health thermometers that I bought on the "black market" (that's what it felt like) during Covid lockdown recently died. I have tried everything to loosen the microscopic screws to the battery compartments which house teensy batteries of unknown (to me) designation anyway.
So I bought a thermometer from Thermoworks to replace them. Reliability and accuracy is unquestioned. Expecting my Jelly Belly delivery any day now.
I have TW's timer, 3 instant read thermometers, 3 refrigerator/freezer thermometers, and a Smoke Sous Vide Kit from them as well.
For my smokers though, it's Fireboard all the way for the 6 channels and ATC, all controlled by one controller and app, and the ability to keep a history of searchable, cloud-saved cook logs with photos and notes attached.
+1. I also have products from both TW (an MK4, a TW One, 2 dots) and FB (FB2 and a Spark). Used to have a TW Signals, but even though a very good product, I rarely used it versus the FB2 and gave it away. I also have 2 Combustion Inc wireless probes and a Meater 2+ wireless probe. I realize that a great number of folks have a tighter budget than I do, and different needs (for example, I do not have a need for a fan). The best part is that both FB and TW are top notch for customer support.
I love companies that do candy with their products. Sweetwater gives candy with all their purchases. They do musical instruments and AV stuff. It was fun to get a soundboard for church complete with a small bag of candy!
