Meater has released a version that is supposedly direct flame proof so that it can be used directly over any flame source - well, maybe not an IR burner, but still might be attractive for most grilling tasks.
I of course love smoked meats of all kinds, but also like quick cooks like chicken portions, pork tenderloins, steak and fish. Really into cooking of all kinds.
My outdoor kitchen has a Lone Star Grillz Adjustable and it is wonderful. There also is a Pit Boss 5 Burner Ultimate Griddle and a Pit Boss Copperhead pellet grill.
There is an outdoor fire pit that has grilling capability and limited Santa Maria-style grill raising and lowering.
Dunno, but I'm hoping Fireboard comes out with a wireless probe that is integrated with the FB and Spark devices. Both Meater and CI are Bluetooth only, but an FB offering that is integrated could use WiFi and the cloud capabilities they already have.
A number of "ambassadors" for Meater/Traeger have posted up YT videos for early release versions. Seems to work well over direct flame.............so far.
I bought 4 - Meater+ units for Christmas presents. They're for my son and nephews. I try to buy them grill/cooking instruments every year to encourage their cooking skills.
