KBQ Thermoworks TX 30005 problems. Altenative?

Hello folks,
I replaced my Thermoworks thermometer for my KBQ. It's been problematic. The darn readout always seems to be facing the wrong direction, i.e. upside down. I flip it over and the display flips updated down again. Also, I live in SoCa. When the sun is bright and it's hot out, the display goes black. Looks like it's burnt. When I turn it off and cool it down, it goes back to normal. These two things combined are enough of a PIA that I want to replace it with an alternative unit.
Any suggestions?

I much prefer a remote thermometer, so I mounted my ThermoPro probe on one of the racks, and ran the wire through the upper corner of the door. Works just fine.

I stopped using it. I really do not see a point once I marked on the dial where I like to run the KBQ. I know where it is at. I will throw my thermapen in there from time to time just to be sure.
