I must give a plug for Fireboard customer service.
I recently purchased my second Fireboard for use on my new Kamado. I have had an older first edition Fireboard since they first came out. It is attached to probes that are permanently attached to my offset smoker and I was looking for an excuse to buy the new version.
I purchased the works, Fireboard Drive, mag stand, and blower On my second use, the FB battery was dead and I had to keep the charger attached. I made sure it was fully charged when I put it away. Third use and the battery is dead again... This is not as advertised... Fully charged it and placed it where i could watch it... A couple of hours later it was back on, cut it off and once again it turned back on. I then contacted FB to see if there was a setting I had missed.
Wendy Jones responded to the call and was able to connect to my FB. We began an email conversation as I tried several different setups, in sun, in shade, with and without mag base, with and without probes, with and without charger attached... It just kept turning back on. At any rate Wendy and I became email friends and as box kept tending to itself. After I could think of no more situations. Wendy sent me a new unit. (This is ongoing; I have not yet returned the old box.)
The different tests were my choice! I am a retired IBM field techy and had to see if I could find the cause. FB would have replaced the unit early on.
At any rate, I now have a FB that behaves itself and I am going to miss the exchanges with Wendy.
