    I gots a Fireboard 2

My girl got me a Fireboard 2 for our anniversary. I am stoked. She didn't know to get the Drive version but I ordered the cable I need to drive my Pit Viper fan an it'll be here Tuesday. I considered buying the Fireboard fan too but held off for now. I do want to have 2 active controllers with fans eventually.

Can anyone explain the adapters required for my setup? I have a Primo XL and Weber kettles. What's required to fit the Fireboard fan to my grills?

Congrats. Your girl is a keeper.

If she hadn't gifted me a Thermopen One already I might consider the Spark.

So from a Weber standpoint. I would go no different than the pit viper with the Weber adapter..

Gratz on a great gift. I'll never go back to dumb probes after my FB 2.

Nice! Just got mine a couple days ago too, although I'm holding off on a fan until such time as it seems necessary. Looking forward to learning it.

Hopefully I'll be able to get back to preparing food again soon to try it out!

I still after a summer of using them, love my fireboards the probes standup far better then my experience with other brands. I still want to get a third fb2 and another pit viper, if you do decide, the pit viper adapter for a kettle is the ticket!

Thanks Richard - I'm still just three cooks in to my SnS kettle, after not having used a kettle or charcoal for a couple of decades, so it remains to be seen whether it even needs automation. Behavior has been rock-steady in my first three runs; clearly more data are needed, and I'm just the dweeb for the job.

Congratulations on a great gift. Thinking of leaving my computer open with this thread up in hopes my wife sees it and gets the hint.

I think the Pit Viper fan is better and more robust than the FireBoard fan. I got my adapters from BBQ Guru, the people who sell the Pit Viper Fan.

Interesting. I wish the apapters we're less expensive (and the shipping). I need a couple more adapters for kettles. Maybe I won't pick up the Fireboard fan.

I forgot to mention she also got me the "extreme probe pack" and the magnetic holder. I can't wait to smoke the chuck roast defrosting right now after I receive my drive cable tomorrow.

That's exactly the bundle I got, except I did get the FB2 Drive model: added the Extreme probe pack and the holder. Your wife is a smart cookie!

Congrats! I just got one question - she got a sister? Or single mom - I am pretty damn old

I'm doing my first cook driving the fan. I'm sitting in my client's parking lot waiting for the meeting and I'm happy to be able to check in on the chuck roast I have smoking away at home. Until today I used a web cam to check in on my old controller. To be fair that worked very well, but this is definitely a nice step up.

The icing on the cake is that my car made it here. On the way here yesterday, my check engine light started flashing. I had to turn back and reschedule for today. I was able to fix the issue myself but was still nervous about taking her out on a longer drive than my test drives yesterday.

I have to say that I love the web access of my cook. Having it up on one tab of the browser is super convenient.

I'm not even going to look into this. I've heard you guys talk about Fireboards and fans and such for years, and this is the one temptation I've resisted because I haven't allowed myself to even read about what this thing does. I am standing at my Thermopylae, and the Persians shall not pass.

Right. Just go ahead and get it over with lol. I have a maverick xr 50 and one of the probes failed. I haven't replaced it because I am trying to justify buying a fireboard lol
