Probe problems with Fireboard 2 Pro

I've had my Fireboard 2 Pro for a little over a year and have had nothing but trouble with the Type-K ambient temperature probe. I've used the unit only about 10 or 12 times. The first ambient probe stopped working after about 8 or 10 uses. I contacted Fireboard and even though it was out of warranty they sent me a replacement. The second one stopped working a couple months later after another 2 or 3 uses. They both malfunctioned in the same manner. When in use, they only read outside air temperature. I'm willing to admit that maybe it's user error or I've damaged them somehow, but I have been as careful as possible with them. I clean with a damp rag and never submerge. I never kink them up when I store them. Plus I handle the meat probes in the same manner and they have worked perfectly. Anybody got advice or had similar issues?

I haven't had any issues with the probes at all. I've used the ambient one maybe 20+ times. Have no clue what could be going on.

I never wash my ambient probes, I just ‘scrape’ the carbon off them with these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

What’s happening do they completely stop reading anything? If so, kinda sounds to me like they might have a problem with them.

They will read outside air temperature (while in the hot smoker).

Maybe it is not the probe, that is the problem, perhaps it is the fireboard causing the probes to go bad. Strangers have happened.
          Just saying.

I'll be a son of a gun. I posted this before I called Fireboard to see if I could learn anything before calling. Well I just called. They said try tightening the screws on the connector. It's a known issue that their supplier has been shipping some of the Tyoe-K probes and the screws haven't been tight. I checked. They were a little loose. I tightened and I think now it's right as rain!

You jinxed me! Had a food probe die on me last night. Luckily I'm still in the 6 month window so hoping for a painless customer service interaction.
