I haven't used my FB in about a month. Anyway the app asks me every time I unlock my phone to enable location tracking. I choose no. My thermometer doesn't need to know where my phone is. I'm not closing the app, this is happening every time I unlock my phone and the app is already open.
Is there a way to disable this pop up? Was this discussed in some fireboard group? It's annoying
You should be able to go into the apps settings and change your location permissions. Don't open the app itself, go into settings>apps>Fireboard>Permissions>Location. Self explanatory from there, even for an old coot like me! That's on an Android.

Capt. It doesn’t matter if you have one of those blocker pouch thingies. The still know everything about you.
What time you woke up this morning, what size was your last dump….. You, we, all know they are watching us. Just some more than others. 😁
Sad but true.
CaptainMike Samsung android, it's gotta be something on my end if none of the other FB users are having this issue. I'll just keep messing with stuff til I fix it or break something else
My Nest thermostat app keeps begging me to let it know where my phone is. Says it’s so it can know if I’m home to regulate temps. Not needed. Besides Nest is owned by Google. I’ve given up enough of my life to that octopus already.

I wanted a Nest, but I thought they ran off motion sensor for that stuff... I'm happy enough with my Honeywell wifi thermostats, and with your info the Nest has come off the wish list
This is the stuff that scares the heck out of me with that type of technology. The idea of updates, and driver things, and apps, etc.. ughh. I keep wanting a fireboard, but_
I just had a humorous Iphone encounter, but first the connection to this thread. The first time I used my FB I received an email the next day asking how I enjoyed my chicken meal the night before. Yeah, I know, it's because of the choice I made during setup.
Forward to a few minutes ago; I received a package tracking text that I responded to out loud, "Thanks for the update, but I'm still pissed it's late." SIRI, unprompted, speaks up (even though I didn't say her name) "Yeah, I thought so...".................somebody at Apple has a wicked sense of humor.
Did you ever get this resolved? I just turned on my Fireboard again today and it is asking for my location as well. If there is no way to turn it off I might be looking for a new thermometer very soon.
Strange, never had this happen to me. But, 3 weeks ago I turn it on after putting meat on the smoker, hooked up my fan and probed my meat and it wanted me to sign in. I suppose it may have done a software update. Well hell I may have signed in like 4 years ago when I bought the thing but had no idea what my credentials were. I’ve got a generic password I use for stuff like this, tried it and luckily it worked. Kind of pissed me off. Funny thing though, I don’t notice a thing changed, maybe background stuff.
Other than that I have nothing but praise for the little device. It turns my smokers into set and forget. Just wish they’d come out with a wireless version.
I sent an email to customer support. This was their reply.
"Sorry for the annoyance - I just rolled a new version of the app that will silence those annoying reminders if location is denied. We only need bluetooth when adding your device to your account (and sending wifi credentials to it).. once that's done, you're free to disable location access (assuming you don't need a bluetooth connection). Not sure how far into the weeds you'd like to go, but Google requires location whenever an app requests a low energy bluetooth scan/pairing. Rest assured, we do not collect or use your location. We recommend setting your permission level to "Allow only while using this app."
This new version should hit the store in the next 24 hrs - I appreciate your feedback!"
So hopefully there will be an update soon!
Oh mine updated last night looks like they fixed it! This was in the patch notes.

My FB2 stopped working after the update. Fireboard had me return it for repairs since it is still on warranty. They received it on Feb 1 and it is still not fixed fixed. Communication is nonexistent unless I request information on the progress, NOT IMPRESSED!!
