I see Richard Chrz already beat me to it but the item I was going to mention is also my Ankarsrum mixer.
On the other end of the scale is my recently acquired Chefman air fryer. It was highly rated by Consumer Reports, and it cost less than $60. Don’t cook much with it other than french fries, but it is outstanding for reheating things like homemade biscuits, pizza, and empanadas.
My Kitchen Aid 600 Pro mixer. It gets used about twice a year, so it might last forever.
Speaking of lasting forever, the Cuisinart food processor that was a gift at my first wedding about 40 years ago. I have a newish, about 9, too that we bought when setting up this kitchen.
The LeCreuset Dutch oven my wife got as a retirement present.

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
In the California summer, it’s pretty much all I use (we don’t have central air). It fits a 12” pizza, a 10-12” CI, a commercial 1/4 sheet pan, it dehydrates (herbs, bread crumbs), proofs dough, keeps stuff warm…..
The stick blender changed my soup and sauce making. Making a pureed soup in food processor is messy and difficult. A stick blender solves that problem. It is quick, easy to use and easy to clean up.
This is fun....and surprisingly difficult. Nearly all of my pricey stuff have been gifts, but some have been awesome, while others have been utter trash.
The expensive things that if they broke today I would replace nearly immediately would be, in order:
JCBBQ It has nearly replaced my microwave (save for vegetables and liquids)...takes just a bit longer and far better results for reheating things, especially things that you want crispy. It has completely replaced my toaster. (Bagels in it are perfect, as well as hot dogs.)
I am quite shocked and surprised at how often I use it.
I rarely cook raw meat in it, though...except for fish. Salmon 390 F for seven minutes and it is perfect and so is the skin. Shrimp are good, too.
With the way things change and evolve, I would go back to brands like Thermoworks, KitchenAid, Bosch, and OXO to see what’s best at the time. I will now always go for induction cook top having used it, gas, and electric along with electric convection ovens.
So far I am at sausage breakfast patties, hot dogs, baby carrots, texas toast, hush puppies, wings, bacon, flower tortilla shell, bologna, salmon, cheese sticks, fish sticks, reheat pizza, chicken tenders (breaded), corn dogs, link sausage, mahi mahi....

My all time fave is my GE Profile Advantium (Trivection) wall oven, which switches seamlessly between microwave, radiant, and convection heat sources to Speedcook entrees, appetizers, snacks, etc. In Speedcook Mode, it's basically a large air fryer on steroids.
It can also function solely as a microwave oven, a convection oven, or a warming oven. It's amazing. I use it more than the other two wall ovens in my kitchen because it's smaller and doesn't heat the kitchen up as much.
It's where I faux-cambro almost all of my smoked meats because the warming oven accurately keeps the temps between 140-160° or 170-190° depending on which setting is selected.
I've had one for over 20 years, having to replace the one that was installed when the house was built after about 12 years or so.
One of my friends just got one of these. They are still experimenting with it, but they really like it and it is stupidly versatile. They've already retired their microwave and now don't need to get an air fryer.
I have the old style Advantiums install. 23 years old. Not many factory replacements available now. We like them so much that the few times a display or control board has gone out on one of them I’ve shipped the part to a board repair facility and had them fixed. Still running like champs.
Donw , I convinced a friend to install an Advantium in her kitchen when they were building their home in our neighborhood. She almost never used it. Used a countertop microwave and her wall oven instead. I could never figure it out. When they sold their home 10 years later, the new owners were very chef-y people who gutted the kitchen to install only the very best appliances. Out went that Advantium. If I had known that was going to happen, I would have bought it from them for backup!
Breville Smart Oven Pro - replaced a toaster oven and an air fryer. Use it multiple times a week.
Kitchenaid Pro Stand mixer
Vitamix Blender
Instant Pot- 8 quart and a 3 quart. The small one gets lots of use as rice cooker.
That's a tough one. My "expensive" consists of some knives & Le Creuset Dutch oven and I don't anticipate having to buy them again. The Kitchen Aid mixer was kinda/sorta pricey. When it went up, I had it repaired. If my Oxo coffee grinder went up, I'd replace the same day, because I have to have a great, (not good), but great cup of coffee every day. I'd replace the Cosori air-fryer if too, but it wasn't very expensive. Great idea for a thread!
I think of All-clads, Le Creuset pans, kitchen mixers, knives, etc. as quality needed accessories, not expensive kitchen items. They pay for themselves over the long term.
The one kitchen accessory I bought, that I did not need but just wanted something extravagant was a 3 qt. Rondeau copper pan from Brooklyn Copper Cookware. It is gorgeous, but I shake my head every time I use it.
Panhead John Thanks man. I remember seeing a YouTube video w Billy Parisi talking about how it’s his favorite. But forgot about until this thread. Sigh…another thing going on my list. 🙄

As I was getting dinner ready last night, I thought….having a large kitchen island that allows me to prep, work, mis en place, and storage throughout, as well as a sitting area on the other side. To me, if I were to ever move (which I don’t) that is the one thing the kitchen HAS TO HAVE.
Our last two houses didn’t have that and it’s a dream to have workspace and not feel crowded. I think that is what I would ensure I buy again in a new house but…glad I don’t have to!!! Hahaha
Absolutely....in fact, I am thinking of spending some serious money on extending my counterspace (we have a breakfast nook next to the kitchen that we just don't use).
This is one of the things we miss about our old house. We had a massive island - 5’x13’ - with a ton of storage, and the sink and cooktop were on walls, so the entire top was a work surface.
