Someone had a post a while back about Made In pans, and I was MCS tempted. But, I thought would the cooking gain be worth the pain of something else to take care of. So I decided no. Two for $100 sounds like a good deal, if you don’t mind taking care of it.

I don't know how pricey Made In runs but my Matfer pans were pretty significantly cheaper than that. Those do not well seasoned either so you'd have some restoration to do.

do you ever cook on CS?

Yeah, I really like mine but honestly if you have some pans you like, they are not going to change your life. Definitely a learning curve, heavy, the lack of high sloped sides means sometimes food flies off. On the pro side, they are nonstick without the coating, do really well with protein, sear excellent.

Regarding the price, I checked and Matfer prices are up almost 300% since I bought mine 5 years ago. So the price appears like a good one. Prob still not worth the drive 😂

I have 2 of those pans (the 10" and 12") and really like them. Once you start using them from a brand new out of the box standpoint they start looking like that. Doesn't affect the cooking at all. You'd be saving about $150 buying them used. Just depends how much you want them.

How far will you drive to a casino, with no guarantee of a positive return?

          Price and seasoning is good.

Actually, I wouldn’t drive to Mohegan Sun, about 15 minutes away! I go to have fun with Mrs M. When I go I have fun, but I’m not motivated to go on my own.

But I get your point. My way of thinking is, “Would I rather have $100, or the thing?” If I have to drive a couple hours, I’d rather have the $100.

Yes, I am similar. A deal in my urban area, I am interested. Otherwise, not.
The only exception which I can think of, is BBQ'rs Delight pellets, which were available about 80 miles away. Don't know, if after the sale, if still available.

Looking at the fish eyes in the seasoning that sort of thing happens when the original wax like coating to prevent rust in shipping and storage before sale hasn't been properly removed for initial seasoning.

I have a couple and I could never get them seasoned right. Spent time on the phone with them and still couldn't get them right. Every once in awhile I try again, but I mostly use my CI and SS now. I have one smaller Du Buyers CS pan that I like.

I love my carbon steel. I would but the nitrided pans. They seem to hold seasoning better, I never have any issues. I left mine soaking in the sink overnight, and no problems!
BTW, it looks like that 12.5” goes for $129 new. To me it would not be worth the two hours of driving, unless you could do something else while you’re in the area. Just MHO.

Internet folks say that Made In carbon steel isn’t as good as their stainless steel.

I don’t need any cookware, I have too much of it! I’d only buy something if it was an easy, great deal that fell into my lap.

Their stainless is awesome. I have the 3qt saucier and it rocks.
