My dad gave me this pan a couple years ago before moving from Charlotte to Wilmington, NC. Busted it out tonight for a quick ground beef stroganoff and was able to use it for a one pan meal. I was able to brown the beef and make the rich sauce in it while boiling a 12 ounce bag of egg noodles. When the noodles finished, I drained them and added to the pan, folding the noodles into the sauce. Heat retention is excellent but this monster ain't light. Super easy to clean and the enamel has lasted very well for a 1980's piece. Lid is robust and fits nicely.

barelfly thank you! I texted him tonight sending pics of the pan and the dish. Also asked when he bought it. He said mid-seventies and added this...
"Looks good.A great dish. Keep up the tradition. Both your mother and I created many meals using that pan. I remember when she bought it, I complained about the cost. As often, silly me."
