First click, they do a great job of making you dive further into the web site to see what it actually is.

    Crazy stuff!

P.T Barnum would be envious. You only paid once to buy a ticket to one of his shows, but with the amazing Thermomix you get the privilege of paying them $360 a year to boot. Personally I’d just keep my pots, pans, baking dishes, and my reliable mixer and pocket the savings.

I think it is $60 but I agree with everything you said.

I only got a group, maybe family sitting around having puree. No demo or functionality.

These have been around for quite some time, I first heard about them at least 5+ years ago from a friend who is from Australia. Apparently quite popular there, at least in her circle. I looked, don't recall that pricing of subscriptions and such, but didn't get that far. There were only a couple outlets in the US selling it, and I figured it was one of those things I'd rarely use enough to make worthwhile the cost and storage space. Doesn't seem any better a deal now, at least not for my purposes. Then again, I like simple. Why buy a chopper gizmo when a knife will do, that sort of approach for me.

Website is just a hook - I'm not looking to demo anything in my house. So, they are targeting a different demographic than me, I guess. If you don't give me enough info to convince me, then it's just a Ginsu knives presentation. Pass.

Poked around a bit. It’s been on the market in the US for about 6 years, but it was actually first released in 1971! Reviews are actually pretty good; they are almost universally “…amazing, but really really expensive.”

What they don’t tell you is that it is marketed like a MLM, that’s why you schedule a demonstration. Google “Thermomix cult”.

I have to say, the video was interesting and truthful.

I can't stand appliances that marketers purport to do everything. They might be able to do everything, marginally, but probably not one single thing well.

My Kuhn-Rikon pressure cookers, are, however, miracle devices. They magically make my gas bill lower.

Does anyone remember the Rainbow vacuum cleaners back in the 80's? My folks got snookered into getting one and it was a piece of crap. It used a water injection method to pull the dirt out your carpets, and while it more or less worked as advertised (for a little while, anyway) it took at least twice as much time to clean the machine as it did to run it over the carpets. And don't you dare NOT clean it, yuck! Way easier, more efficient, and cheaper to rent a carpet cleaner from time to time.

Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door.

Note: For gits and shiggles I Garbled Rainbow Vacuums, and by jiminy it's still a thing. And it seems they're still snookerin' folks!
